I'm back with another Fabric Refresh blog post and this one is slightly different than usual. I normally don't feature a fabric collection that isn't available in shops yet. However, today I'm featuring a gorgeous collection by Heather Briggs of My Sew Quilty Life called Flower Girl. This debut collection is scheduled to arrive in shops this month, but as far as I can tell, it has not yet.

So why I am sharing the patterns I've refreshed in Flower Girl now? Well, I get Heather's newsletter and she mentioned a couple weeks ago that she has heard from some shops that they're already selling out. Since the fabric isn't in shops yet, I'm guessing that they are selling out with preorders. I'm sure there will be shops who don't do preorders who will have it available once it starts shipping to shops, but I figured if you get inspired by any of these mockups and want to make sure you get the fabric to make it, you might want to preorder it too.

Now let's get to the quilts! I can see why Flower Girl is turning out to be so popular. It is so soft and pretty and I had a great time playing with these fabrics in EQ8! So far, I've managed to avoid buy any because I definitely do not have time to be making any of these quilts myself. We'll see if I can continue to resist; I don't always have great luck with that!

If you really want to showcase these lovely fabrics, a Stay Square quilt would be a great option. Grab a layer cake and keep most of the square intact so that the fabrics really become the stars of the show! I used a Bella solid called Circa Celadon for the accent. This is one of the coordinating solids that the fabric designer chose for the Flower Girl collection.

Another great option if you want lots of color is my Shining Stars pattern. In order for the white accent to really show, you need a colorful background and I made two different versions. One uses the Circa Celadon solid again.

For the second one, I used a Bella solid called Peach which is another Flower Girl coordinating solid. However, when I looked at the fabric swatch on my Bella solid color card, the Peach solid is WAY lighter than it looks here. I don't think I'd actually use it for this quilt. I tried to find a darker pink that I'd use instead, but without having any Flower Girl fabric, it's hard to tell what would really go well with it.

I decided to go ahead and include this pink version anyway and if you like this version, I'll leave it up to you which pink you want to use.

Another fun mockup that I made with Flower Girl fabric is my Flutter pattern. This is a great color palette for these blocks that resemble butterflies. I especially love how the low volume small floral print looks in the background.

I made two versions of Flutter. For the first, I used the Circa Celadon solid for the accent (butterfly bodies). While I like sticking with the same color palette and the soft overall look that it creates, I also really like having a darker accent that contrasts more with the other fabrics. In the second mockup below, I used a solid brown. I used a brown that is available in EQ8 so it's not any particular solid fabric. If you like that version too, look for a brown that you like. Or whatever color you like!

Flower Girl is a great choice for a jelly roll version of my Garden Charm pattern. The main pattern uses a variety of fabrics in the centers of the blocks with an accent surrounding them, but the pattern includes directions for reversing that. Here, I've mocked up that alternate version and used another of the coordinating solids for the centers. This Bella solid called Soft Yellow gives the quilt the look of flowers with their yellow centers.

Another quilt that resembles flowers is Blooming Kisses. There are two version of the quilt in the pattern and I have the Blooming version shown here. You'll want to grab both a layer cake and a jelly roll for this one!

The next several patterns are all jelly roll friendly so if you're a fan of precut strips, keep reading!

Log Jam is kind of like three patterns in one! The blocks in this quilt go together so quickly and with three different layout options, there is sure to be one that is perfect! I tried out all three in Flower Girl and they all look great!

Next up is Ophelia, one of my most popular patterns. This is another pattern that sort of resembles flowers so it's perfect for the Flower Girl collection! I used the Soft Yellow solid for the accent.

Jelly Patch is a great pattern if you want to make the whole quilt from precut strips! Two solid jelly rolls can replace the background fabric and then you can get to sewing even faster!

Last but not least, I refreshed my Double Take pattern in Flower Girl. I tend to like a subtle fabric for the accent in the chains so I went with one of the small floral low volume fabrics in this mockup. I really like the soft look that it gives the quilt.

One word of caution though... While the low volume fabric contrasts with the bright white solid here, I can't guarantee that will be the case with the real fabric. I've noticed that the digital fabric images are often darker than they are in real life. I don't know if that's due to my computer screen or if that's the case for everyone. Just something to keep in mind!

That's all for today! I hope you enjoyed these patterns refreshed in Flower Girl. Are there other patterns of mine that you'd like to see refreshed in Flower Girl? Let me know in the comments and I may be able to include them in a future Fabric Refresh blog post.

Until next time,

Amanda
