I'm sure you've heard of Christmas in July, but what about Halloween in April? That might not be a thing but a super fun Halloween collection has just started arriving in quilt shops and I think it's going to be a really popular one! I was excited for Lella Boutique's Hey Boo collection for Moda Fabrics from the moment it was first debuted several months ago. It's finally here and if you like it as much as I do, make sure you run to your favorite quilt shop and grab some because I'm pretty sure it won't be around for long!
If you love this fabric, but need some ideas for what to make with it, I've got you covered! Keep reading to check out some of my quilt patterns that I've refreshed with Hey Boo!
The first quilt pattern that I refreshed was Shining Stars. I made good use of the star prints and used the black one for the background and the white print with multi-colored stars for the accent. Then I picked 11 print that contrasted well with both for the star blocks. I finished it off with the black and white stripe from the Hey Boo collection.
Next up is another fat quarter pattern called Stargazing. I typically envision this quilt with white for the background, but I've seen this pattern made in Halloween fabrics before with a black background, so I had to try out both! Which is your favorite?
Another fat quarter pattern that I think looks great in Hey Boo is Americana. Don't let the name fool you! I may have originally designed this pattern in reds, whites, and blues, but it looks just a good in fun Halloween prints!
Now on to a few layer cake friendly patterns! First up is Stay Square because I couldn't mockup up quilts in Hey Boo without including my most popular pattern! This pattern is your best bet if you want to really see the fabrics, including the pretty pumpkins and adorable ghosts!
Besotted is another layer cake friendly pattern that is a great option if you want a quick and easy quilt. It's also a great option if you love chain quilts!
Next, I refreshed a few jelly roll friendly patterns. Window Box is always a favorite and works well with just about any fabric collection. Hey Boo is no exception!
If you love chain piecing, you'll want to check out Jelly Patch. Sometimes it's the simplest blocks that make the best quilts!
Friendship is another jelly roll friendly pattern that is made easier with strip piecing. This one has a lot of background so I tried out both a light background and a dark background. Sometimes the darker background just feels more like Halloween!
Last, but not least, I refreshed my Spellbound pattern in Hey Boo. This quilt can be made with a fat eighth bundle and you'll be able to use most prints in this quilt!
