Pieced Just Sew: Wayward Quilt in Tiny Frights by Ruby Star Society

Are you ready to see my fourth Wayward quilt? This time it is a Halloween version using this year's collaborative collection from the designers at Ruby Star Society called Tiny Frights.

I know I've said it before and I'll say it again. While I don't like celebrating Halloween, I love, love, love Halloween fabrics and Halloween quilts. This quilt is no exception. I really like the color palette in this Tiny Frights collection. And wait until you see the extra surprise with these fabrics. Keep reading to find out!

I made this quilt with a jelly roll of Tiny Frights. I didn't bother to measure my strips before sewing, but I'm wondering if this jelly roll was slightly wider than it should have been. Precuts aren't always super accurate and my seam allowance seemed to be off a little bit more than the other Wayward quilts that I made with jelly rolls. I was able to make it work as I joined the blocks together, but just something to keep in mind. It also could just be me. My seams are definitely not perfect!

I quilted this quilt with a pantograph called Sound and Vision that is wavy lines. It's hard to see on the front, but it shows up well on the back. Also, how cute is that graveyard print?

For the binding, I went with the black print with the eyes staring out from the darkness.

Now for that surprise I mentioned earlier. Some of the Tiny Frights fabrics glow in the dark! How fun is that? One of the glow-in-the-dark fabrics is the white-on-white lightning bolt print. I used this for the background. It was really hard to photograph, but you can kind of make out the lightning bolts in the picture below, particularly in the area between the purple and navy pieces. Photographing a quilt in the dark is not easy, even if it's glowing, but I did manage to get a couple of photos that let you see the these fabrics in action. In the first photo, the room wasn't completely dark but the fabrics showed up a lot better on camera. Pretty neat!

Here is a close up view. You can see that there are a few other prints that have some glowing elements on them. The yellow fabric near the center has a glowing skull. The eyes on the orange print to the left of the yellow are glowing a little bit. The navy bat print right above the yellow has little stars that are glowing. And of course, the black lightning bolt print glows just like the white-on-white version.

Unfortunately, I think the white-on-white print was really popular because it seems to be mostly sold out compared to the other prints. Right now, I found some Etsy listings with a couple of yards left HERE, HERE, and HERE. If you find some and you want to make a quilt with it, make sure you snap it up while you can!

I am really happy with how this quilt turned out and Ruby Star Society knocked it out of the park again with this collaborative Halloween collection. I'll stop talking (writing?) now and just let you enjoy the photos!
