Wow! Where did the past month go? Actually, I know where it went. My day job has been keeping me BUSY! I refreshed some of my quilt patterns in the new Meadow Star collection by Alexia Abegg for Ruby Star Society a couple of weeks ago and haven't had a chance to get the blog post written.

This collection seems to be popular so I definitely wanted to get these mockups shared before the fabric gets hard to find, in case you want to recreate one yourself!

Let's jump right in! The first pattern that I refreshed in Meadow Star is Window Box, a jelly roll friendly pattern that is quick to put together thanks to strip-piecing.

Wayward is another quick, strip-pieced jelly roll pattern that looks great in Meadow Star. It actually has a similar color palette to my original Wayward sample quilt that I had made in Lil, another Ruby Star collection from last year.

Another jelly roll pattern that I refreshed in Meadow Star is Double Take. This pattern has an accent fabric that surrounds the scrappy chains and I often lean towards a more subtle accent rather than a dark, bold color. I tried out a couple of the lower volume prints from Meadow Star, one in pink and one in black. I'm really liking the black one!

I still tried out a darker accent to what it looked like and I like that too! It definitely gives the quilt a different look. Here I've used the Caramel Mini Dot print from Meadow Star. It looks like a solid on the mockup but it's actually covered in tiny polka dots.

Next up is Stay Square. While this pattern is layer cake friendly, it also includes fat quarter instructions and I went the fat quarter route for these mockups. I wanted the quilt to be full of rich color and so I didn't want to have to include the lighter lower volume prints. Using fat quarters allowed me to pick 12 colorful prints from the Meadow Star collection

For the first Stay Square quilt below, I used that Caramel Mini Dot again for the accent color but in the second one, I used one of the navy prints from the Ruby Star Starry collection.

Shining Stars is up next and this is one of my favorite star patterns. I love using dark backgrounds in this quilt because it really helps the white accent sparkle! So of course, my favorite is the first mockup below where I used the navy Starry print again.

But if navy blue isn't your thing, you can certainly choose something else. Maybe the Caramel Mini Dot or the blue star print from Meadow Star is more to your liking? The blue print also looks sort of like a solid but it's actually covered in tiny star bursts! Seemed fitting for a Shining Stars quilt!

Next up is Treasure Hunt, a fat quarter friendly pattern. Using 20 fat quarters, you can make these fun X blocks that go together much more easily and quickly than your might think!

Finally, I refreshed Tumble in Meadow Star, again using the navy Starry fabric for the dark accent that makes these blocks look like they are tumbling to the side. This is another quilt that is probably easier to make than you'd think. It's all about organization!

That's all for today! Are there other patterns of mine that you'd like to see refreshed in Ruby Star's Meadow Star? Let me know in the comments below and I may be able to include it in a future Fabric Refresh blog post!

Until next time,

Amanda
