Fabric Refresh - Albion by Amy Smart for Riley Blake Designs

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

Albion by Amy Smart is a fabric collection that caught my eye a few months ago. This fabric from Riley Blake Designs is now showing up in quilt shops so this is the perfect time to share some of my quilt patterns that I refreshed with Albion fabrics.

The first pattern that I refreshed is Log Jam and this might be my favorite Albion mockup! I love this extra scrappy version with a variety of low volumes for the background instead of a single fabric.

Fabric Refresh - Hey Boo by Lella Boutique for Moda Fabrics

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

I'm sure you've heard of Christmas in July, but what about Halloween in April? That might not be a thing but a super fun Halloween collection has just started arriving in quilt shops and I think it's going to be a really popular one! I was excited for Lella Boutique's Hey Boo collection for Moda Fabrics from the moment it was first debuted several months ago. It's finally here and if you like it as much as I do, make sure you run to your favorite quilt shop and grab some because I'm pretty sure it won't be around for long!

If you love this fabric, but need some ideas for what to make with it, I've got you covered! Keep reading to check out some of my quilt patterns that I've refreshed with Hey Boo!

Fabric Refresh - Flower Girl by My Sew Quilty Life for Moda Fabrics

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

I'm back with another Fabric Refresh blog post and this one is slightly different than usual. I normally don't feature a fabric collection that isn't available in shops yet. However, today I'm featuring a gorgeous collection by Heather Briggs of My Sew Quilty Life called Flower Girl. This debut collection is scheduled to arrive in shops this month, but as far as I can tell, it has not yet.

So why I am sharing the patterns I've refreshed in Flower Girl now? Well, I get Heather's newsletter and she mentioned a couple weeks ago that she has heard from some shops that they're already selling out. Since the fabric isn't in shops yet, I'm guessing that they are selling out with preorders. I'm sure there will be shops who don't do preorders who will have it available once it starts shipping to shops, but I figured if you get inspired by any of these mockups and want to make sure you get the fabric to make it, you might want to preorder it too.

Now let's get to the quilts! I can see why Flower Girl is turning out to be so popular. It is so soft and pretty and I had a great time playing with these fabrics in EQ8! So far, I've managed to avoid buy any because I definitely do not have time to be making any of these quilts myself. We'll see if I can continue to resist; I don't always have great luck with that!

If you really want to showcase these lovely fabrics, a Stay Square quilt would be a great option. Grab a layer cake and keep most of the square intact so that the fabrics really become the stars of the show! I used a Bella solid called Circa Celadon for the accent. This is one of the coordinating solids that the fabric designer chose for the Flower Girl collection.

Fabric Refresh - Meadow Star by Alexia Abegg for Ruby Star Society

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

Wow! Where did the past month go? Actually, I know where it went. My day job has been keeping me BUSY! I refreshed some of my quilt patterns in the new Meadow Star collection by Alexia Abegg for Ruby Star Society a couple of weeks ago and haven't had a chance to get the blog post written.

This collection seems to be popular so I definitely wanted to get these mockups shared before the fabric gets hard to find, in case you want to recreate one yourself!

Let's jump right in! The first pattern that I refreshed in Meadow Star is Window Box, a jelly roll friendly pattern that is quick to put together thanks to strip-piecing.

Fabric Refresh - Evolve by Suzy Quilts for Art Gallery Fabrics

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

I'm back with another Fabric Refresh blog post! If you're new around here, this is where I use my Electric Quilt 8 software to refresh some of my quilt patterns with new fabrics. Then I share them here so you can get inspired and get some ideas for how to use a recent fabric collection!

Today's I'm featuring Evolve by Suzy Quilts for Art Gallery Fabrics. As soon as I saw this collection a few months ago, I knew there would be a Fabric Refresh post in its future! I love the soft, muted colors. It has a bit of a tropical and beachy feel to it. If that appeals to you too, keep scrolling to check out all the refreshed quilts that I've created.

I told myself I was only going to do a few since my life is so busy these days, but I got a bit carried away and have almost 20 mock-ups in this post! Enjoy!

Fabric Refresh - Juniper by Sharon Holland for Art Gallery Fabrics

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

Welcome to 2024! I'm kicking off the new year with a brand new Fabric Refresh blog post. There are so many great fabric collections coming up this year and I hope I can keep up and share my refreshed patterns with you!

Today's featured fabric collection is already available and has been for a bit. It seems to still be fairly easy to find though. It's Sharon Holland's Juniper collection for Art Gallery Fabrics

This collection has a very cozy feel to it and is perfect for this time of year! Let's get right to the refreshed quilts.

The first pattern that I refreshed with Juniper is Evening Glow. I originally designed this quilt with a light background and dark accent, but as I've refreshed this quilt a few times over the years, I'm finding that I like it even better with a dark background and a light accent.

Evening Glow pattern by Pieced Just Sew in Juniper fabrics by Sharon Holland for Art Gallery Fabrics

Here I've used one of the dark green prints for the background with solid white for the accent squares. The pattern calls for 16 fat quarters but since this collection doesn't have a lot of prints, especially if you want to leave out the ones that blend in too much with the background or accent, I made this mockup as though I used 8 half yards.

Fabric Refresh - Besties by Tula Pink for FreeSpirit Fabrics

Note: This post contains affiliate links. I may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

I'm back today with a new Fabric Refresh blog post! It's been a couple of months since I've done one of these posts. There hadn't been a new fabric collection that made me want to play with it in EQ8

Okay, that's not completely true. There have been several new collections announced lately that I absolutely love, but they won't be in stores until 2024. I don't feel like I should share mockups with fabrics you can't buy yet.

Or maybe I should, so you can preorder your fabrics? Let me know in the comments if you think I should feature future fabric collections in these posts.

Anyway, back to today's featured fabric collection. I came across Tula Pink's new collection for FreeSpirit Fabrics called Besties while online fabric shopping last weekend. It's full of bright and cheery colors along with your favorite furry friends and non-furry non-human friends. Dogs, cats, turtles, rabbits, fish, hamsters, plus some great blenders.

Tula Pink often has large scale prints in her collections and Besties is no exception. My Stay Square pattern is definitely one of the best of my patterns for allowing large scale prints to shine because you don't have to cut your fabrics into really small pieces.

Fabric Refresh - Wintertale by Katarina Roccella for Art Gallery Fabrics

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

So Christmas is only about five months away. I know, I know. Don't blame the messenger! If you haven't started your Christmas sewing yet, now is the time! It's also convenient that this is the time of year that the Christmas fabric collections are showing up in quilt shops. One of my favorite holiday collections this year is Wintertale by Katarina Roccella for Art Gallery Fabrics so of course I had to refresh some of my patterns with it!

I actually saw this collection for the first time months ago and as soon as I saw it, I fell in love with it. I think it had a lot to do with the white print with the little stars sprinkled on it. I knew it would make the perfect background fabric! I don't think I'm the only one to think so. It's the only print out of stock right now on Fat Quarter Shop as well as on Art Gallery Fabric's website for wholesale orders. At the time I'm writing this, there are a few listings for that print on Etsy (other prints come up at the link too, so you may have to scroll for them).

All of the mockups that I'm sharing today use that star print for the background, but if you're not able to find it, a solid white or another small scale print like a dot would still look great!

The first quilt I'm sharing today is Ophelia. While this pattern is jelly roll friendly, you'll want to use the fat quarter option in the pattern if you want to make a Wintertale version since Art Gallery Fabrics does not offer precut strips (as far as I know). Grab a fat quarter bundle, pick 12 of your favorite prints that contrast well with your background and you're good to go! Don't forget to grab an extra quarter yard for the cornerstones. I used the light blue print for mine. You could also use a leftover fat quarter from your bundle.

Fabric Refresh - Berry Basket by April Rosenthal for Moda Fabrics

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

The Fourth of July is just days away here in the United States which means it is the perfect time to sew with some red, white, and blue fabrics! Luckily, the amazing Berry Basket collection by April Rosenthal for Moda Fabrics recently started showing up in shops and this fabric is the perfect collection to feature for a Fabric Refresh blog post as we wrap up June and head into the thick of summer.

As soon as I saw this fabric in the Moda catalog, I knew I wanted to refresh my Log Jam pattern with it. Berry Basket has dark red and navy prints, plus lighter pink, aqua, gray, and white prints. It looked like there was about an even split between light and dark. Log Jam normally can be made with a print jelly roll and a solid jelly roll, but I wanted to see what it would look like if I used two Berry Basket jelly rolls and used the lighter prints in place of a solid jelly roll. It turned out as great as I was hoping it would!

Fabric Refresh - Sunbeam by Rashida Coleman-Hale for Ruby Star Society

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

Happy Friday and welcome to the 5th and final day of Fabric Refresh Week! I've had a lot of fun sharing all of my refreshed quilts with you this week. To finish out the week, I'm sharing another Ruby Star Society collection, Sunbeam by Rashida Coleman-Hale

This collection wasn't even on my radar until a couple weeks ago when I happened to see a post on social media as it was beginning to arrive in shops. It immediately made me think of First Light, another Ruby Star Society collection from a couple of years ago.

I missed out on that one but was playing around with it in EQ8 a few months ago for some reason. I used it to create a digital version of a future pattern and I thought about trying to track down enough fabric to make it. With the release of Sunbeam, I'm going to use that instead! I can't share that future quilt yet, but it would also look great in several of my current patterns. Let's jump right in (and be sure to look for today's coupon code somewhere in this post!)

My favorite quilt that I refreshed in Sunbeam is Scrappy Herringbone. I love this one so much that I got all the way to having all of the fabric needed in my cart before I stopped myself! I just don't have the time to add another quilt to my to-do list. Not to mention that I don't need to be spending money on remaking existing patterns right now considering I quit my job recently

Scrappy Herringbone is a layer cake pattern and this version is the larger size option (both the larger herringbone and larger overall quilt). It uses 80 squares so since layer cakes are 42 squares, you'll be able to leave out two pieces from each of two layer cakes. That means that even if the darkest black print in the collection is duplicated, you should be able to leave it out and still have enough to make this quilt. I did not use that print in this mock-up because I thought it looked out of place compared to the other fabrics.

Fabric Refresh - Lil by Kimberly Kight for Ruby Star Society

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

Welcome to Day 4 of Fabric Refresh Week here at Pieced Just Sew! I hope you've been enjoying the refreshed patterns in new fabrics as much as I've enjoyed creating and sharing them! Hopefully you've been enjoying the savings too with the limited-time coupon codes to my Etsy shop that I've been including with each post. Keep reading to find today's code!

Today I am featuring a recent Ruby Star Society release by Kimberly Kight called Lil. I'm currently getting ready to cut into this fabric myself to make a sample for what I think is going to be this year's jelly roll pattern release for National Jelly Roll Day. You'll have to wait until late August or early September to see that, but I have lots of patterns to share in Lil today to help you get your Ruby Star fix.

The first pattern I'm refreshing today is Easy Argyle, my only pattern that only uses yardage. It is very rare that I make a quilt with so few fabrics in it, but this is a great option if you want a really fast quilt without a bunch of different fabrics to worry about.

I made two versions of Easy Argyle in Lil and the first is my favorite. I used the navy print with the apples and flowers and the dark gold/caramel colored print with the little white flowers as the two main fabrics. I used a pink print with a small scale print for the large diamonds and the white-on-white print with the small flowers for the small diamonds.

Fabric Refresh - Sunnyside by Camille Roskelley for Moda Fabrics

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

It's Day 3 of Fabric Refresh Week and I can hardly believe it's halfway over already! So far we've been inspired by Tula Pink's Everglow and AGF Studio's Spooky 'n Witchy. Have you been remembering to use the coupon codes to save on the featured patterns each day? They're only good for a couple of days so if you missed out on the first two, make sure to keep reading so that you don't miss today's code!

Today I'm featuring a collection with a much more traditional feel to it. You might know Camille Roskelley as one half of the mother-daughter team behind the super popular Bonnie and Camille fabrics from Moda Fabrics. Since Bonnie has retired, Camille has been continuing on her own and I fell in love with her Sunnyside collection as soon as she first debuted it (it was the burgundy prints that got me!) and then had to wait months for it be available!

Well, it's finally here and I already grabbed some for a couple of future pattern samples. You'll have to wait a while to see those but you should grab some Sunnyside fabric now and if you need some ideas of what to make with it, this is the blog post for you!

The first pattern that I refreshed in Sunnyside was Americana. I love star quilts and while the pattern was named for the reds and blues used in the original cover quilt, this pattern looks great in a variety of fabrics and I love it in Sunnyside. These colors together make me think of a beautiful garden. This pattern uses 18 fat quarters so you can pick a wide variety of colors and prints to make a very colorful and scrappy-looking quilt.

Fabric Refresh - Spooky 'n Witchy by Art Gallery Fabrics

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

Welcome to day 2 of Fabric Refresh Week here at Pieced Just Sew! If you're just joining me, you can see yesterday's post here. Fabric Refresh Week is pretty much like my usual Fabric Refresh blog posts where I refresh some of my patterns in new fabrics. The difference is that I'm sharing a new post every day this week and there is a special limited-time coupon code hidden in each post that can be used to save on that day's featured patterns!

Today I'm sharing one of my favorite Halloween collections of the year, Spooky 'n Witchy by AGF Studio of Art Gallery Fabrics. It might feel early to be thinking about Halloween with summer just getting underway, but it will be here before you know it and this is the time of year that holiday fabrics are typically released. If you wait until October to start planning, the fabric you want might be sold out!

Art Gallery has released similar Halloween collections for the past few years. I used Spooky 'n Sweeter two years ago to make a Stay Square quilt (I still need to take more photos and blog about it!) and I even featured it in a Fabric Refresh post. If you loved those fabrics but thought you missed out, be sure to check out Spooky 'n Witchy. Some of the prints are the same!

Let's jump right in with the first refreshed pattern, Ophelia. This jelly-roll friendly pattern also has instructions for fat quarters which is what you'll need to make this in Spooky 'n Witchy since Art Gallery doesn't have precut strips. Grab a fat quarter bundle, pick your favorite 12 prints in a variety of colors, and get sewing!

Fabric Refresh - Christmas Eve by Lella Boutique for Moda Fabrics

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

Are you ready for Christmas? It may only be the beginning of June, but I'm sure the rest of the year is going to fly by. I swear it was just January yesterday!

This time of year is when the Christmas fabric collections start showing up in shops. One recent release is Christmas Eve by Vanessa Goertzen of Lella Boutique for Moda Fabrics. It has a classic Christmas feel with deep reds and evergreen greens plus a variety of grays and snowy whites. If you loved her Christmas Morning collection from two years ago, you'll love this one too! It's very similar.

Today I'm sharing several of my patterns refreshed with Christmas Eve fabric. I probably could have refreshed all of my patterns but I finally made myself stop after nine (though some of those nine have multiple versions!)

Ophelia was the first quilt I was itching to refresh in Christmas Eve. Since Ophelia is my most recent pattern (well, recent as in I haven't released one since; it's been available since last September), I haven't had a chance to refresh it in traditional Christmas colors until now. And I love it as much as I knew I would!

Friday Fabric Refresh - Christmas in July from Modern to Traditional

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

Happy Friday!  I'm cutting it close but I'm squeezing in a Christmas in July version of Friday Fabric Refresh on the last Friday of the month.  There are always lots of new Christmas fabrics arriving in quilt shops this time of year.  I decided to choose three collections in three different styles and share some refreshed quilts in each.

Christmas in the City is a modern line from Art Gallery Fabrics that is currently shipping to shops.  Christmas Stitched is a traditional collection from Fig Tree for Moda Fabrics should also be arriving soon.  And finally, Pixie Noel 2 by Tasha Noel for Riley Blake Designs, which is available now, sort of falls in between modern and traditional.  There might be a name for that particular style, but I'm not sure what it is.  If you know, please let me know in the comments!

Friday Fabric Refresh - Ghost Town by Dana Willard for Figo Fabrics

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

Happy Friday!  There are only 107 days until Halloween so it's time to start working on those spooky projects!  Luckily, the Halloween fabric collections are showing up in quilt shops.  One of my favorite new collections is Ghost Town by Dana Willard for Figo Fabrics.  Adorable cats, cute ghosts, colorful bats, and some great blenders make up this collection.

If you have been to my blog before, you probably know how this works.  I used my Electric Quilt 8 software to refresh some of my patterns with Ghost Town fabric.  I could never make all of the quilts that I want to make, so sometimes I have to settle for making digital quilts!  I'm sharing them here in case you do have time and want to make one of my patterns in Ghost Town while seeing how it will look before you start.

Friday Fabric Refresh - Daybreak by Fran Gulick for Riley Blake Designs

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a commission if you click a link and make a purchase.

Happy Friday!  Are you ready for another edition of Friday Fabric Refresh?  If you’re new around here, FFR is where I refresh some of my patterns in new fabric so you can see what they would look like.  Sometimes it’s hard to imagine what a quilt will look like in fabric that is different than the pattern cover.  Since a lot of fabric becomes hard to find after a little while and designers can’t constantly update our pattern covers, my hope is that seeing some of my quilts in new fabric will help you envision your project and feel more confident about your fabric choices.

Sometimes I feature a specific quilt pattern but more often I feature a recent fabric collection that I love!  Today that collection is Daybreak from RileyBlake Designs.  This is the debut collection by Fran Gulick of Cotton & Joy and she has knocked it out of the park!  I love the colors, I love the prints.  I’m currently working on a quilt using Daybreak but I probably won’t be able to share that for a while.  In the meantime, I’m sharing a few of my current patterns that I’ve refreshed in Daybreak.  Let’s get started!

Friday Fabric Refresh - Shine On by Sharon Holland for Art Gallery Fabrics

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a commission if you click a link and make a purchase.

Happy Friday!  I recently bought a fat quarter bundle of Shine On by Sharon Holland for Art Gallery Fabrics.  I was planning to make a sample of a future pattern that I'm working on, but once I had the fabrics in my hands, I changed my mind and am going to make a different future pattern instead.  The fabrics are so pretty that I would love to buy more and make multiple quilts!  I already have too much fabric and not enough time, so I'm trying really hard to resist!

Luckily, with my Electric Quilt 8 software, I can do the next best thing and "make" as many quilts as I want by creating mockups using Shine On digital fabric swatches!  I refreshed a few of my quilt patterns and I'm sharing them here today.

Friday Fabric Refresh - Stay Gold by Melody Miller for Ruby Star Society

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a commission if you click a link and make a purchase.

Happy Friday! I'm extra excited today because my day job added Martin Luther King Day as a company holiday this year so I have a three-day weekend! I'm also excited because the long-awaited Ruby Star Society collection Stay Gold is finally arriving in stores!  I think the precuts have been out for a bit, but the yardage is finally here.  To celebrate, I'm featuring Stay Gold for my latest edition of Friday Fabric Refresh!

Stay Square quilt in Stay Gold fabric

When I first saw this collection, I thought it was too bright for my tastes.  I don't often choose very bright saturated fabrics.  After seeing some of the quilt mockups included in Moda's catalog, I decided to give it a try.  I snagged an early release layer cake months ago and made a second sample of my recent Stay Square quilt pattern.

I liked it so much that I redid the cover of my pattern at the last minute so that Stay Gold could be featured as the cover quilt!  If you want to see more of my Stay Gold Stay Square quilt (say that three times fast!), you can check out the blog post here.

This is not the first time I've shared a mockup in Stay Gold in a Friday Fabric Refresh post:

You can see it in my Log Jam pattern here and here.

You can see it in my Town Hall pattern here.

You can see it in my Metro pattern here.

This collection has continued to grow on me so I had to give it its very own post.  It also seems to be very popular as I've already heard rumors of it selling out at some shops!

Friday Fabric Refresh - Tarrytown by Ruby Star Society

Happy Friday! I'm sure you've heard the saying that good things come to those who wait.  Well, that's certainly true this week!  Ruby Star Society's Tarrytown collection by Kimberly Kight is finally showing up in shops.  This collection was originally scheduled to arrive in May so it has been a long six month wait that is finally over!

I'm not usually a big purple and pink person, but something about this fabric collection has really appealed to me since I first saw it.  The purples and pinks, plus the navy blues are so pretty!  I've been having fun this week refreshing some of my quilt patterns with Tarrytown and I'm sharing them with you today!
