Fabric Refresh - Sandalwood Quilt

Hello! I just released a new pattern so of course I have to dedicate a Fabric Refresh post to it! There are so many fabric options that look great with this pattern. In fact, I have so many mockups of this pattern to share that I'm going to get right to it!

Sandalwood quilt in Modernly Morgan Palette Picks

The first refreshed Sandalwood quilt I'm sharing is shown above and features the Palette Picks bundle by Modernly Morgan for Robert Kaufman. I absolutely love this color palette. It is so cheery and happy and bright. It would make a great spring quilt! This bundle is available as fat quarters, so I chose 12 of my favorite colors from the bundle for this mockup (12 is the number of fat quarters needed to make the quilt).

It's time to share the third and final Halloween quilt that I made this year! It's a Stay Square quilt using the Spooky 'n Witchy collection by Art Gallery Fabrics (just like the Ophelia quilt I blogged about a couple days ago).

But wait, I'm actually sharing two quilts in this post, so four in total? Sort of. Let me explain...

Ophelia Quilt in Spooky 'n Witchy by Art Gallery Fabrics

I'm back to share the second of three Halloween quilts that I made this year. I really shouldn't be spending time remaking my existing quilt patterns when I have so many unpublished designs waiting to be written and so many other things I want to do to expand Pieced Just Sew. But sometimes I find a fabric and pattern combination that really calls to me and I just can't help myself!

This Ophelia quilt made with Art Gallery Fabrics' Spooky 'n Witchy collection was one of those times. I featured this fabric/pattern combo in a Fabric Refresh blog post a few months ago and I just couldn't stop looking at it. I really, really loved how it looked, especially with the dark background. I don't use dark backgrounds very often and I definitely don't use a dark print very often. There was just something about this one and I couldn't resist seeing if it looked as great in real life.

Turns out, it looks amazing! I could not be happier with how this quilt turned out!

Fabric Refresh - Wayward Quilt

Are you ready to see some refreshed Wayward quilt mock-ups? Wayward is my new jelly roll pattern released earlier this week. If you missed that, you can read about the cover quilt HERE, about a second sample quilt and how the name came to be HERE, or about a two-color version HERE.

But if you need even more inspiration for your own Wayward quilt, this is the post for you! I picked a few of my favorite recent fabric collections and refreshed Wayward with them. Let's jump right in!

But first, I want to mention something about these mock-ups. With the way the blocks are constructed, certain fabric combinations show up together multiple times within the quilt. However, that became way too hard to keep track of when coloring these digital images so I often just randomly assigned fabrics to various patches within the quilt. It shouldn't change the overall look of the quilt, but wanted to mention that in case you try to replicate my image exactly. You won't be to match the exact fabric placements shown here.

Okay, on to the quilts! First, I played around with Bountiful Blooms, the latest collection from Sherri and Chelsi to arrive in quilt shops.

One of the things I love about Bountiful Blooms is that it feels like a combination of summer and fall. It feels a little too bright and cheery to be a fall fabric line, but it also feels a little darker and more muted that what you might expect for a summer quilt. This is the perfect fabric collection if you're ready to shift into those cooler autumn months but aren't quite ready to say goodbye to summer yet!

Background fabric can also make a difference in how a quilt "feels." The first mock-up below has a bright white background and maybe leans more towards a summer feel.

Fabric Refresh - Spooky 'n Witchy by Art Gallery Fabrics

Welcome to day 2 of Fabric Refresh Week here at Pieced Just Sew! If you're just joining me, you can see yesterday's post here. Fabric Refresh Week is pretty much like my usual Fabric Refresh blog posts where I refresh some of my patterns in new fabrics. The difference is that I'm sharing a new post every day this week and there is a special limited-time coupon code hidden in each post that can be used to save on that day's featured patterns!

Today I'm sharing one of my favorite Halloween collections of the year, Spooky 'n Witchy by AGF Studio of Art Gallery Fabrics. It might feel early to be thinking about Halloween with summer just getting underway, but it will be here before you know it and this is the time of year that holiday fabrics are typically released. If you wait until October to start planning, the fabric you want might be sold out!

Art Gallery has released similar Halloween collections for the past few years. I used Spooky 'n Sweeter two years ago to make a Stay Square quilt (I still need to take more photos and blog about it!) and I even featured it in a Fabric Refresh post. If you loved those fabrics but thought you missed out, be sure to check out Spooky 'n Witchy. Some of the prints are the same!

Let's jump right in with the first refreshed pattern, Ophelia. This jelly-roll friendly pattern also has instructions for fat quarters which is what you'll need to make this in Spooky 'n Witchy since Art Gallery doesn't have precut strips. Grab a fat quarter bundle, pick your favorite 12 prints in a variety of colors, and get sewing!
