Fabric Refresh - Albion by Amy Smart for Riley Blake Designs

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

Albion by Amy Smart is a fabric collection that caught my eye a few months ago. This fabric from Riley Blake Designs is now showing up in quilt shops so this is the perfect time to share some of my quilt patterns that I refreshed with Albion fabrics.

The first pattern that I refreshed is Log Jam and this might be my favorite Albion mockup! I love this extra scrappy version with a variety of low volumes for the background instead of a single fabric.

Fabric Refresh - Flower Girl by My Sew Quilty Life for Moda Fabrics

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

I'm back with another Fabric Refresh blog post and this one is slightly different than usual. I normally don't feature a fabric collection that isn't available in shops yet. However, today I'm featuring a gorgeous collection by Heather Briggs of My Sew Quilty Life called Flower Girl. This debut collection is scheduled to arrive in shops this month, but as far as I can tell, it has not yet.

So why I am sharing the patterns I've refreshed in Flower Girl now? Well, I get Heather's newsletter and she mentioned a couple weeks ago that she has heard from some shops that they're already selling out. Since the fabric isn't in shops yet, I'm guessing that they are selling out with preorders. I'm sure there will be shops who don't do preorders who will have it available once it starts shipping to shops, but I figured if you get inspired by any of these mockups and want to make sure you get the fabric to make it, you might want to preorder it too.

Now let's get to the quilts! I can see why Flower Girl is turning out to be so popular. It is so soft and pretty and I had a great time playing with these fabrics in EQ8! So far, I've managed to avoid buy any because I definitely do not have time to be making any of these quilts myself. We'll see if I can continue to resist; I don't always have great luck with that!

If you really want to showcase these lovely fabrics, a Stay Square quilt would be a great option. Grab a layer cake and keep most of the square intact so that the fabrics really become the stars of the show! I used a Bella solid called Circa Celadon for the accent. This is one of the coordinating solids that the fabric designer chose for the Flower Girl collection.

Fabric Refresh - Evolve by Suzy Quilts for Art Gallery Fabrics

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

I'm back with another Fabric Refresh blog post! If you're new around here, this is where I use my Electric Quilt 8 software to refresh some of my quilt patterns with new fabrics. Then I share them here so you can get inspired and get some ideas for how to use a recent fabric collection!

Today's I'm featuring Evolve by Suzy Quilts for Art Gallery Fabrics. As soon as I saw this collection a few months ago, I knew there would be a Fabric Refresh post in its future! I love the soft, muted colors. It has a bit of a tropical and beachy feel to it. If that appeals to you too, keep scrolling to check out all the refreshed quilts that I've created.

I told myself I was only going to do a few since my life is so busy these days, but I got a bit carried away and have almost 20 mock-ups in this post! Enjoy!

Fabric Refresh - Jelly Roll Day 2023

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

It's that time again! The annual National Sew a Jelly Roll Day is tomorrow, Saturday September 16th! You can read more about Jelly Roll Day HERE, but basically it's a day created by Moda Fabrics to celebrate all of those wonderful jelly roll patterns and spend the day sewing with your favorite 2.5" strips.

If you're ready to sew but still need a pattern to use, I've got you covered! This is the fourth year in a row that I've released a jelly roll pattern right before Jelly Roll Day and I'm hoping it's a tradition I can keep up.

I'm sharing a special jelly roll themed Fabric Refresh post today. I've picked three recent Moda Fabrics collections (one is Ruby Star Society, which is owned by Moda) and have refreshed each of my previous Jelly Roll Day releases (plus a few others) in each of those three fabric lines! There's even a free pattern included, so make sure you scroll all the way to the end of this post!

If you're looking for refreshed versions of my latest pattern, Wayward, you can find those in a separate post HERE.

The first pattern that I'm featuring today is Ophelia, which was my 2022 jelly roll pattern. I still sometimes can't believe how just the right combination of block, sashing, and cornerstone arrangement can take a very simple, not-very-exciting quilt block and turn it into an amazing design! (If I do say so myself, ha!)

The first Ophelia quilt that I'm sharing is in Sherri and Chelsi's latest collection, Bountiful Blooms. This quilt always looks a bit like flowers to me so this collection full of flower prints is perfect! I even went with a yellow print for the cornerstones to imitate flower centers.

Fabric Refresh - Wintertale by Katarina Roccella for Art Gallery Fabrics

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

So Christmas is only about five months away. I know, I know. Don't blame the messenger! If you haven't started your Christmas sewing yet, now is the time! It's also convenient that this is the time of year that the Christmas fabric collections are showing up in quilt shops. One of my favorite holiday collections this year is Wintertale by Katarina Roccella for Art Gallery Fabrics so of course I had to refresh some of my patterns with it!

I actually saw this collection for the first time months ago and as soon as I saw it, I fell in love with it. I think it had a lot to do with the white print with the little stars sprinkled on it. I knew it would make the perfect background fabric! I don't think I'm the only one to think so. It's the only print out of stock right now on Fat Quarter Shop as well as on Art Gallery Fabric's website for wholesale orders. At the time I'm writing this, there are a few listings for that print on Etsy (other prints come up at the link too, so you may have to scroll for them).

All of the mockups that I'm sharing today use that star print for the background, but if you're not able to find it, a solid white or another small scale print like a dot would still look great!

The first quilt I'm sharing today is Ophelia. While this pattern is jelly roll friendly, you'll want to use the fat quarter option in the pattern if you want to make a Wintertale version since Art Gallery Fabrics does not offer precut strips (as far as I know). Grab a fat quarter bundle, pick 12 of your favorite prints that contrast well with your background and you're good to go! Don't forget to grab an extra quarter yard for the cornerstones. I used the light blue print for mine. You could also use a leftover fat quarter from your bundle.

Fabric Refresh - Berry Basket by April Rosenthal for Moda Fabrics

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

The Fourth of July is just days away here in the United States which means it is the perfect time to sew with some red, white, and blue fabrics! Luckily, the amazing Berry Basket collection by April Rosenthal for Moda Fabrics recently started showing up in shops and this fabric is the perfect collection to feature for a Fabric Refresh blog post as we wrap up June and head into the thick of summer.

As soon as I saw this fabric in the Moda catalog, I knew I wanted to refresh my Log Jam pattern with it. Berry Basket has dark red and navy prints, plus lighter pink, aqua, gray, and white prints. It looked like there was about an even split between light and dark. Log Jam normally can be made with a print jelly roll and a solid jelly roll, but I wanted to see what it would look like if I used two Berry Basket jelly rolls and used the lighter prints in place of a solid jelly roll. It turned out as great as I was hoping it would!

Fabric Refresh - Lil by Kimberly Kight for Ruby Star Society

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

Welcome to Day 4 of Fabric Refresh Week here at Pieced Just Sew! I hope you've been enjoying the refreshed patterns in new fabrics as much as I've enjoyed creating and sharing them! Hopefully you've been enjoying the savings too with the limited-time coupon codes to my Etsy shop that I've been including with each post. Keep reading to find today's code!

Today I am featuring a recent Ruby Star Society release by Kimberly Kight called Lil. I'm currently getting ready to cut into this fabric myself to make a sample for what I think is going to be this year's jelly roll pattern release for National Jelly Roll Day. You'll have to wait until late August or early September to see that, but I have lots of patterns to share in Lil today to help you get your Ruby Star fix.

The first pattern I'm refreshing today is Easy Argyle, my only pattern that only uses yardage. It is very rare that I make a quilt with so few fabrics in it, but this is a great option if you want a really fast quilt without a bunch of different fabrics to worry about.

I made two versions of Easy Argyle in Lil and the first is my favorite. I used the navy print with the apples and flowers and the dark gold/caramel colored print with the little white flowers as the two main fabrics. I used a pink print with a small scale print for the large diamonds and the white-on-white print with the small flowers for the small diamonds.

Fabric Refresh - Sunwashed by Corey Yoder for Moda Fabrics

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

Hello! I'm back with my first quilt mockup post in months and I'm changing things up a bit! You may have noticed that the title of this post is missing the "Friday" at the beginning of it. And that I'm not posting this on a Friday. There have been several times over the past three years of doing my Friday Fabric Refresh posts that it would have been more convenient to post on a day other than Friday.  So I decided to drop the Friday and just call these posts Fabric Refresh. Because any day of the week is a good day to share quilt mockups!

If you're new around here, my Fabric Refresh posts are where I refresh some of my quilt patterns by mocking them up in new fabrics and share them with you! I've been quilting a long time and I lost track a long time ago of how many times I saw a pattern and was not interested until I saw it in different fabrics. Suddenly, I couldn't wait to make it! I also like to see what a quilt will look like before I make it because sometimes what I picture in my head does not match reality!

If either of the above sound like you too, hopefully these posts will give you some ideas of how you might want to use a fabric collection that you've fallen in love with. Or maybe you've found a pattern of mine that you like, but want to make it in different fabrics and aren't quite sure what it will look like. Or maybe you just like looking at pretty quilts! I know I do!

Okay, let's jump right in! Today I'm featuring Sunwashed by Corey Yoder for Moda Fabrics. This collection is bright, cheery, full of pretty florals, and perfect for spring!

The first refreshed quilt that I'm sharing today is Scrappy Herringbone which is a layer cake pattern. This is a great pattern if you want to avoid background fabric. It's also great if you have a fabric collection that has a lot of prints that match what you would use as a background fabric and you don't want to leave them out of your quilt. With this pattern, pretty much anything goes and you can use all the fabrics! Depending on which size quilt you choose from the pattern, you'll be using all or almost all of your layer cake squares so there is very little waste!

Friday Fabric Refresh - Elixir by Melody Miller for Ruby Star Society

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

Happy Friday! I'm back with another edition of Friday Fabric Refresh, where I refresh some of my quilt patterns in new fabric so that you can hopefully be inspired and be confident in your fabric choices.

I'm featuring another Ruby Star Society collection today (in case you couldn't tell, I kind of have a thing for Ruby Star fabrics these days!)  I have liked Melody Miller's Elixir collection since it was first announced.  This fabric recently arrived to quilt shops and I think it was originally supposed to be released in March so the wait has felt like an eternity!  I'm trying really hard to resist buying this fabric because I have too much fabric already but it's sooo tempting!  I'm hoping to get my fix with these digital quilts.

The first pattern that I have refreshed today is Besotted which is a fun and easy chain quilt.  The pattern is written for a layer cake.  However, there are a lot of very dark fabrics in this collection and I didn't want my main block fabrics to blend in with the chain fabric.  Instead, I chose 12 of my favorite prints and used each for three blocks.  If you decide to use fat quarters to make this quilt, you will be able to cut enough pieces from each fat quarter to make three blocks.

Friday Fabric Refresh - Spooky Darlings by Ruby Star Society

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

Are you a Halloween fan?  I don't really like the holiday itself.  Don't hate me!  It's just not my thing.  I don't want to dress up, I don't want to go to a costume party (or any kind of party, for that matter), and I don't want to go to a haunted house.  But for whatever reason, I LOVE Halloween fabric and quilts!  I already featured one Halloween fabric collection for Friday Fabric Refresh this year (if you missed it, you can check that out here) but I couldn't resist doing another Halloween post for Spooky Darlings by Ruby Star Society.  This line is full of pumpkins, black cats, skulls, ghosts, candy, and fancy spiderwebs with little metallic spiders!

I liked one of the refreshed quilts so much that I bought some fabric from Fat Quarter Shop and I'm going to turn it into a real quilt.  I can't wait to see if it turns out as good in real life as it looks in digital form!  If you want to see which quilt I'm making, make sure you're following me on Instagram so you don't miss it when I start sharing!

Friday Fabric Refresh - Christmas in July from Modern to Traditional

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

Happy Friday!  I'm cutting it close but I'm squeezing in a Christmas in July version of Friday Fabric Refresh on the last Friday of the month.  There are always lots of new Christmas fabrics arriving in quilt shops this time of year.  I decided to choose three collections in three different styles and share some refreshed quilts in each.

Christmas in the City is a modern line from Art Gallery Fabrics that is currently shipping to shops.  Christmas Stitched is a traditional collection from Fig Tree for Moda Fabrics should also be arriving soon.  And finally, Pixie Noel 2 by Tasha Noel for Riley Blake Designs, which is available now, sort of falls in between modern and traditional.  There might be a name for that particular style, but I'm not sure what it is.  If you know, please let me know in the comments!

Friday Fabric Refresh - Shine On by Sharon Holland for Art Gallery Fabrics

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a commission if you click a link and make a purchase.

Happy Friday!  I recently bought a fat quarter bundle of Shine On by Sharon Holland for Art Gallery Fabrics.  I was planning to make a sample of a future pattern that I'm working on, but once I had the fabrics in my hands, I changed my mind and am going to make a different future pattern instead.  The fabrics are so pretty that I would love to buy more and make multiple quilts!  I already have too much fabric and not enough time, so I'm trying really hard to resist!

Luckily, with my Electric Quilt 8 software, I can do the next best thing and "make" as many quilts as I want by creating mockups using Shine On digital fabric swatches!  I refreshed a few of my quilt patterns and I'm sharing them here today.

Friday Fabric Refresh - Merry & Bright Bundle by Woodberry Way

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a commission if you click a link and make a purchase.

Happy Friday!  If you follow Alli of Woodberry Way, you have probably seen the Merry & Bright curated fat quarter bundle that she currently has for sale in her shop (if you don't see it, they may be sold out; see the bundle in her blog post here).  The bundle is full of reds, pinks, greens, and aquas and I immediately grabbed one.  Alli has made several quilts in this color palette in the past and they are some of my favorite quilts of hers.

Once I placed my order, I started thinking about what I would make with it.  There are 20 fabrics in the bundle and I realized that my newest pattern Town Hall takes 20 fat quarters.  It's like it was fate!  I was able to find digital images of each print to upload into my Electric Quilt software (EQ8) (which is on sale through Sunday, by the way!) and then I started playing.  If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you might have already seen my Merry & Bright version of Town Hall, shown below.

Town Hall

Of course, I couldn't stop there!  I've been playing around in EQ8 all week and have been refreshing some of my other patterns with the fabrics in this bundle.  Now I'm torn about what I want to actually make!  I kind of want to buy myself another bundle while I have the chance.  As of the evening before this post publishes, the bundles are still available in the Woodberry Way shop, but once they sell out, they are gone for good.  I wasn't going to buy more than one bundle because I didn't think it would be fair to others who wanted one, but if you wait too long, I might give in!  :-)

If you're reading this after the bundles are gone, you might be able to create a very similar bundle if you have a lot of Lori Holt fabrics in your stash.  The reason I was so easily able to find digital images of each fabric is because I recognized most of them.  Even those that I couldn't place for sure looked like Lori Holt fabrics so I knew where to start my search.  With the exception of the darker green with the white stripe, every fabric is Lori Holt from various collections over the past few years.  The stripe is from Poppy and Posey by Riley Blake.

Okay, now on to my other refreshed patterns!

Friday Fabric Refresh - Spooky 'n Sweeter by Art Gallery Fabrics

Happy Friday and Happy (almost) Halloween!  I'll admit that I have a strange relationship with Halloween.  I don't like Halloween parties or dressing up, but I love Halloween fabric and quilts!

One of my favorite Halloween collections this year is Spooky 'n Sweeter by Art Gallery Fabrics.  I decided to feature this fabric for a Halloween edition of Friday Fabric Refresh.  Let's get started!

Friday Fabric Refresh - Log Jam Part 2

Hello again!  I'm back with part 2 of Friday Fabric Refresh for my new pattern, Log Jam.  If you missed part 1 this morning, you can find that post here.  That post focused on refreshed versions of the layout option on the pattern cover.  This post will be all about refreshed versions of the other two layout options.

Friday Fabric Refresh - Log Jam Part 1

Happy Friday! Not only is it Friday, but it's the day before National Sew a Jelly Roll Day that is sponsored by Moda Fabrics and celebrates all things jelly roll!  If you're new to this annual celebration, check out Moda's blog post about it here

I'm celebrating this week by releasing my latest jelly roll pattern, Log Jam.  It's a log cabin quilt and it's super fun!  I used Tarry Town fabric by Kimberly Kight for Ruby Star Society for the cover quilt.
