I'm back today with another Fabric Refresh post. Today's featured collection is Strawberry Lemonade by Sherri and Chelsi for Moda Fabrics. I have been waiting for months for this fabric to arrive in stores! It is so pretty and I'm actually in the middle of making a quilt with this fabric for a future quilt pattern. While I can't share that just yet, I can share some refreshed versions of other patterns. Let's jump right in!

These are the fabrics I'm using for a quilt. The collection has several low volumes as well.

The Strawberry Lemonade collection includes honey buns as one of the available precuts. Moda Fabrics doesn't include honey buns with all of their collections so I thought this would be a good opportunity to refresh some of my honey bun patterns that don't always get a lot of attention. Although, because honey buns can be hard to find (or maybe you just don't like working with them), all of my honey bun patterns include alternate fabric requirements and cutting instructions.

The first honey bun quilt that I refreshed was Sandalwood, which is also my most recent pattern release. This pattern can also be made with fat quarters, but I like the extra variety of prints and colors that you can get with honey buns.

The other fun thing about Sandalwood is that you can get a second bonus quilt by using the leftover pieces from the main quilt, along with additional yardage. There are several layout options in the pattern, so if you don't like this one, you have options or you can do your own thing!

Metro is another honey bun friendly pattern that I really like but I don't refresh that often in these blog posts. The pattern includes instructions for making this with charm packs. You could also use scraps and cut your own strips!

I used the aqua gingham print from Strawberry Lemonade as the accent in the first version below. I personally seem to prefer a light accent with this pattern so I decided to try Bella solid in Breeze as well (this was one of the coordinating solids for the Willow collection that I featured in my previous Fabric Refresh post). The difference is slight, but I do think I like that one better. Don't limit yourself by thinking you have to stick with the same collection!

Park Place is another quilt that doesn't get a lot of attention from me and it's a shame because I also really like this one. It is written for a honey bun and a charm pack, but you can also use fat eighths. Strip-piecing helps this go together more quickly than you might think!

Honey Squares is yet another honey bun friendly pattern (or you can use fat quarters). Like Metro above, this one also has an accent fabric but unlike Metro, I seem to prefer a dark accent. Here I've used one of the coordinating solids that designers Sherri and Chelsi have chosen to go along with Strawberry Lemonade. It's a Bella solid in Betty's Teal.

Spellbound is the next pattern that I refreshed in Strawberry Lemonade and it is written for a honey bun and a jelly roll, although you can also use fat eighths. This quilt might look like it has a lot of pieces, but strip piecing makes it a lot easier and if you follow the directions carefully, every single seam in this quilt will nest! Win!

Okay, now on to some non-honey bun quilts. Strawberry Lemonade will look great in almost any pattern and it's one of those collections where you don't necessarily want to cut it up into really small pieces. A lot of the prints are a smaller scale (though there are a few larger florals), but in order for the gorgeous colors to really shine, you might want more prints and less background.

Jelly Patch is a fun jelly roll pattern that can look a little bit like a flower garden full of color. There is still quite a bit of background here but the fun thing about this pattern is that you can use two solid jelly rolls instead of yardage for the background so that you can get right to sewing!

Next up is Stay Square, a layer cake friendly pattern. This one really lets those fabrics have the spotlight! I went with the Betty's Teal solid again for the accent.

Finally, I refreshed my Treasure Hunt pattern. This one has fairly minimal background compared to the prints so if you're looking for a really colorful quilt in Strawberry Lemonade, this might just fit the bill. The blocks are big and I think you just might be surprised at how easily these blocks go together.

That's all for today! I hope these refreshed patterns gave you some inspiration and if there are other patterns of mine that you'd like to see refreshed in Strawberry Lemonade, let me know in the comments. I may be able to make it happen in a future Fabric Refresh blog post!

And if you're tempted to buy some Strawberry Lemonade fabric, either for one of my patterns or something else, don't wait because I have a feeling these fabrics are not going to stay in stock for long!

Until next time,

Amanda
