Swiss Roll Quilt in Sunday Brunch Fabric by BasicGrey

Meet the Swiss Roll quilt! This is my newest quilt pattern and it is a jelly roll friendly pattern just in time for the upcoming National Sew a Jelly Roll Day on Saturday, September 20th!

Swiss Roll quilt pattern by Pieced Just Sew

While this pattern can be made with a jelly roll (precut 2.5" strips), that is not your only option! You can also use a layer cake (precut 10" squares), fat quarters, fat eights, or quarter yards.

Fabric Refresh - Sunwashed by Corey Yoder for Moda Fabrics

Hello! I'm back with my first quilt mockup post in months and I'm changing things up a bit! You may have noticed that the title of this post is missing the "Friday" at the beginning of it. And that I'm not posting this on a Friday. There have been several times over the past three years of doing my Friday Fabric Refresh posts that it would have been more convenient to post on a day other than Friday.  So I decided to drop the Friday and just call these posts Fabric Refresh. Because any day of the week is a good day to share quilt mockups!

If you're new around here, my Fabric Refresh posts are where I refresh some of my quilt patterns by mocking them up in new fabrics and share them with you! I've been quilting a long time and I lost track a long time ago of how many times I saw a pattern and was not interested until I saw it in different fabrics. Suddenly, I couldn't wait to make it! I also like to see what a quilt will look like before I make it because sometimes what I picture in my head does not match reality!

If either of the above sound like you too, hopefully these posts will give you some ideas of how you might want to use a fabric collection that you've fallen in love with. Or maybe you've found a pattern of mine that you like, but want to make it in different fabrics and aren't quite sure what it will look like. Or maybe you just like looking at pretty quilts! I know I do!

Okay, let's jump right in! Today I'm featuring Sunwashed by Corey Yoder for Moda Fabrics. This collection is bright, cheery, full of pretty florals, and perfect for spring!

The first refreshed quilt that I'm sharing today is Scrappy Herringbone which is a layer cake pattern. This is a great pattern if you want to avoid background fabric. It's also great if you have a fabric collection that has a lot of prints that match what you would use as a background fabric and you don't want to leave them out of your quilt. With this pattern, pretty much anything goes and you can use all the fabrics! Depending on which size quilt you choose from the pattern, you'll be using all or almost all of your layer cake squares so there is very little waste!

Scrappy Herringbone Quilt in Spooky Darlings by Ruby Star Society

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click a link and make a purchase.

Today I'm sharing my Scrappy Herringbone quilt made with a layer cake of Spooky Darlings by Ruby Star Society.  The designers of Ruby Star Society recently chose several quilters to be part of their Ruby Star Makers group and I was surprised and thrilled to have been one of them!

That means that they send me fabric from one of their new or upcoming collections and I get to make something with it and share it with you!  There was a sign up list with the available fabrics and the choices went fast but I managed to snag a layer cake of their collaborative Halloween collection, Spooky Darlings.

Friday Fabric Refresh - Stitched by Fig Tree

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a commission if you click a link and make a purchase.

Happy Friday!  I’m back today with another edition of Friday Fabric Refresh, where I refresh some of my quilt patterns in new, fresh fabric!  Lately, I’ve been featuring a lot of what I think would be considered more “modern” fabric collections from Ruby Star Society and Art Gallery Fabrics.  While I definitely feel like my fabric style has evolved a little over the last few years, I still really love the more traditional styles like Fig Tree from Moda Fabrics.  Joanna of Fig Tree has captured that classic Fig Tree feel with her latest collection, Stitched.

This collection is so pretty and is perfect is you’re looking to make a cheery quilt.  The first quilt that I have refreshed is Stay Square.  This is a fast and fun layer cake quilt that really lets the fabric shine!  For the accent, I used one of the Bella Solids that coordinates with Stitched called Latte (Bella 9900-245).

Friday Fabric Refresh - Camellia by Melody Miller for Ruby Star Society

Happy Friday!  If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen the post that I made a week ago where I gave you an early sneak peek at one of this week’s Friday Fabric Refresh quilts.  If you saw it, you know that this week is all about Camellia by Melody Miller for Ruby Star Society.

If you missed it, you can see that quilt below.  It is my Evening Glow pattern and I am obsessed with that dark green print from the collection as the background.  Like I said on IG, I am so, so tempted to buy myself a fat quarter bundle of Camellia and the yardage to make this.  I love it so much!  I really, really, don’t need more fabric though so I am trying to resist.

Friday Fabric Refresh - Spice Cake from Moda Bake Shop book

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a commission if you click a link and make a purchase.

Happy Fri....Wednesday??  I know, I know, I call these posts "Friday Fabric Refresh" but I just couldn't wait until Friday this time! I have a fun surprise at the end of this post so make sure to read all the way to the end!

Are you a fan of the Moda Bake Shop?  If so, you will love the newest Moda Bake Shop book, Did Someone Say Cake which was released earlier this year.  If you have not checked it out yet, you need to!  It features 12 quilts made with layer cakes which are precut 10" squares.

I have a quilt in the book called Spice Cake, which you can see below.

Friday Fabric Refresh - Stay Gold by Melody Miller for Ruby Star Society

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a commission if you click a link and make a purchase.

Happy Friday! I'm extra excited today because my day job added Martin Luther King Day as a company holiday this year so I have a three-day weekend! I'm also excited because the long-awaited Ruby Star Society collection Stay Gold is finally arriving in stores!  I think the precuts have been out for a bit, but the yardage is finally here.  To celebrate, I'm featuring Stay Gold for my latest edition of Friday Fabric Refresh!

Stay Square quilt in Stay Gold fabric

When I first saw this collection, I thought it was too bright for my tastes.  I don't often choose very bright saturated fabrics.  After seeing some of the quilt mockups included in Moda's catalog, I decided to give it a try.  I snagged an early release layer cake months ago and made a second sample of my recent Stay Square quilt pattern.

I liked it so much that I redid the cover of my pattern at the last minute so that Stay Gold could be featured as the cover quilt!  If you want to see more of my Stay Gold Stay Square quilt (say that three times fast!), you can check out the blog post here.

This is not the first time I've shared a mockup in Stay Gold in a Friday Fabric Refresh post:

You can see it in my Log Jam pattern here and here.

You can see it in my Town Hall pattern here.

You can see it in my Metro pattern here.

This collection has continued to grow on me so I had to give it its very own post.  It also seems to be very popular as I've already heard rumors of it selling out at some shops!

Friday Fabric Refresh - Town Hall Quilt Pattern

Note:  This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive a commission if you click a link and make a purchase.

Happy Friday!  I always love Fridays and Fridays are always better when I can share some of my patterns refreshed in other fabrics.  Today is even better than usual because I’m featuring my brand new pattern, Town Hall!

Town Hall in Tarrytown

This pattern just released yesterday and the photo above is of the quilt that matches the cover image.  I used Tarrytown by Kimberly Kight for Ruby Star Society.  This fabric finally arrived in shops fairly recently after a months-long delay due to the pandemic and the worldwide supply chain disruptions.  It kind of worked out because I made this quilt months ago using a pre-release fat quarter bundle that I had managed to snag.  It took me much longer to get the pattern ready than I intended (no issues with the pattern itself; just life).  So I’m really grateful that you should still be able to find this fabric fairly easily if you want to make your own.

Of course, the whole point of this blog post is to show you what Town Hall would look like in other fabrics.  Maybe you don’t really like Tarrytown.  We all have different tastes in fabrics!  Maybe you want to make a quilt for someone else who has a different style.  Maybe you’re reading this months from now and Tarrytown is hard to find but you have one of the other fabrics that I’m featuring in your stash.

Whatever your reason, I have you covered!  I have several refreshed versions of Town Hall to share, ranging from modern, to holiday, to a little more traditional.  Let’s jump right in!

Friday Fabric Refresh - Ruby Star Society's Heirloom

Happy Friday!  Have you seen the Heirloom collection by Alexia Marcelle Abegg for Ruby Star Society?  I have been anxiously awaiting this collection for months!  I had two new patterns that I planned to make with Heirloom.  Neither of those happened (story of my life this year!) but I have the fabric so I'll make something eventually!  In the meantime, I'll just have to daydream about all of the quilts I would love to make with this fabric.  I'm sharing some of my favorites today for Friday Fabric Refresh!

Lella Boutique Christmas Morning Stay Square Quilt

I’m sharing another Stay Square quilt with you!  I have never met a Christmas quilt that I didn't like.  This Stay Square quilt in Christmas Morning by Lella Boutique is no exception!

Stay Square Quilt in Ruby Star Society's Stay Gold

My latest pattern Stay Square is now available in my shop!  I'm so excited to finally share this quilt with you!

I’ve had this quilt finished for a bit but delayed putting the finishing touches on the pattern so that I could get my Log Jam jelly roll pattern released during National Sew a Jelly Roll Day last month.

But September is over now and what better way to start off a new month than with a brand new pattern!

Friday Fabric Refresh - Special Requests

Happy Friday!  For today's Friday Fabric Refresh, I am featuring some requests that were made on previous Refresh posts.

A few fabric lines were mentioned in the comments when I posted the patriotic version of Hallowed Blooms on Instagram a couple months ago.  If you missed it, you can see that here.

Friday Fabric Refresh - Sugarcreek

Hello and happy Friday!  I'm back with another Friday Fabric Refresh!  An Instagram follower asked to see my Window Box pattern in Sugarcreek, so I had to oblige!

I love the Sugarcreek collection, so I decided to devote the entire post to this gorgeous fabric line by Corey Yoder for Moda Fabrics and share several other patterns in the fabric as well.  Let's jump right in!

First up, of course, is Window Box.  Thanks for the suggestion, Jeri!  Now I want to scour the internet for a Sugarcreek jelly roll!
